By now, probably all of you have heard about the purchase of VMware by Broadcom. In an interesting decision, Broadcom made VMware's Desktop Hypervisor products free of charge for personal use, i.e. 17.5.2 for VMware Workstation and 13.5.2 for VMware Fusion. These products are available for free with all features. Of course, a license must be obtained for commercial use.
These updates fix several security problems in these two products that were discussed in Security Advisory No. VMSA-2024-0010 . Therefore, I recommend you to install them as soon as possible.
In addition, in versions 17.5.0 and 17.5.1 of the Workstation product on Windows, sometimes vmnat.exe had very high CPU consumption for no reason, and that problem has been fixed in this version.
During this action, this company deprecated its former free products, namely VMware Workstation Player and VMware Fusion Player, which have fewer features than the Pro versions of these products.
So now you can use VMware desktop hypervisors for free on all Windows, Linux and Mac platforms.
There is no difference between the personal and commercial versions of these products, and only on the About page of the Personal version is a text displayed that this product is for personal use. To go to the commercial version, it is enough to enter the serial number.
If you want to delete the serial that you have already entered in these products so that you can use the new version legally; For Windows, go to this address from within the registry and delete the license key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\VMware, Inc.\VMware Workstation
For Linux, go to this address and delete the license file that is there:
/etc/vmware/
For Mac, go to this address and delete the license file there:
/Library/Preferences/VMware Fusion
We received the files directly from Broadcom and we provide them below along with the Checksum, and in this version, due to the new changes, we did not include the Keygen.
